Take the brakes off

So is that a yes or a no?

At the start of this election campaign the RAC sent a message to the major political parties on behalf of all Western Australian motorists: “nice words won’t fix our roads.”

As part of our “Take the Brakes Off” campaign, we asked the parties six simple questions on where they stood on a fairer share of road funding for Western Australia.

Party responses to Take the brakes off
The responses have all been politely worded but have all avoided the questions.

The RAC has had some wins along the way with the ALP making a significant commitment to our number one priority, the Gateway WA airport roads project, and the Liberal Party making a smaller commitment to partially fund one section of the upgrade of the Reid Highway.

But the lack of direct responses to our questions indicates we could be in for another three years of Canberra ignoring Western Australia’s road and public transport needs, regardless of the election result.

So how do the parties stack up when it comes to WA getting its fair share of Federal road funding?
