A focus on mobility
To make an impact within the community, the RAC is focused on developing partnerships around three key mobility themes - Safe, Accessible and Sustainable.
These themes revolve around personal mobility and support the RAC's heritage as a motoring organisation while acknowledging the other ways people need or choose to travel around our community and the broader State of WA.
- Safe
No matter how we choose to move around WA, we should be safe in doing so.
The RAC believes we need to have safer drivers in safer cars on safer roads.
All road users, including drivers, motorbike riders, cyclists and pedestrians, need to behave responsibly to ensure our roads are safe for everyone.
Aim: To reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on WA's roads.
- Sustainable
We need to prepare for the future and think about how the transport decisions made today will affect future generations.
Motorists want to play their part in reducing the impact of their vehicles on the environment.
New technologies, such as alternative fuels and electric vehicles, improved urban planning, increased support for alternative modes of transport and a better public transport system will all be a part of a sustainable mobility future.
Aim: To improve efficiency and lower emissions from passenger vehicles.
- Accessible
We need to be able to move around our community in an efficient and affordable manner.
Congestion is already a problem in our State and the pressure on our commuter networks will increase as our population continues to grow.
We need to ensure our road network and public transport system continues to meet the growing demands.
Aim: To have a cost efficient, convenient and reliable commuter transport network.
