RAC criticises lack of road funding in budget
11 May 2007
The RAC has welcomed cuts to vehicle stamp duty in the State Budget but criticised the government for not making more money available to improve roads in the South West region of WA.
Speaking from outside Parliament House, the RAC’s Executive Manager of Member Advocacy David Moir said the budget was a mixed bag for motorists.
“We are happy that the Government has answered the RAC’s repeated calls to cut vehicle stamp duty on cars priced between $15,000 and $50,000,” he said.
“But disappointed there is no extra funding for roads especially given the number of deaths on WA roads this year."
