RAC encourages Western Australian's to explore their state
The demand for international and domestic travel dropped in the past year according to RAC Business Manager for Travel and Leisure Kingsley Dawes who said now was the perfect time for people to get out and discover their own State.
“Our revenue shows a 12 per cent drop in travel bookings this year but hopefully people will start to see the value of a WA holiday.
“As well as this new tourism campaign, the RAC recently finished its 101WA campaign which promoted all the great things to see and do in this State,” he said.
“People don’t have the big budgets for holidays that they had a couple of years ago so this is a great opportunity to really discover everything Western Australia has to offer.”
Mr Dawes said the RAC had been encouraging Western Australians to look at their own State as a destination for years, even if it was as simple as discovering a local area, heading away for a weekend or taking the family on a driving holiday.
“This funding will be a real boost for WA tourism and the WA economy. I think it’s great that the State Government is getting behind domestic tourism,” Mr Dawes said.
“This is a great State with some really diverse holiday destinations. The 101WA website lists the top places as voted by the public and is a great reference tool for anyone looking for a WA escape.”
