Driven to distraction - What distracts you most when you drive?

Driver distraction survey
Inside the car it’s the kids screaming, your appearance, the need to change the music, the mobile phone or even a rogue insect.

Outside the car it’s other motorists, cyclists, scantily clad pedestrians, workmen, advertising billboards, obscure signs and neon lights.

These are just some of the distractions faced by WA drivers on our roads today.

While it seems a light hearted subject, there is a much more serious side to driver distraction.

The Office of Road Safety estimates that distraction plays a part in between 25 and 40 per cent of serious injuries and fatalities on our roads each year – a staggering figure.

To investigate this further the RAC wants to know what distracts you as a driver. And how dangerous do you rate the different distractions around you both in and outside of the car.

Is new technology an automotive advancement or a safety strain?
