Audi has taken six of the 36 finalist places in this year’s Australia’s Best Cars award with models represented in five different vehicle categories, including Best Small Car and Best Recreational four-wheel-drive.
The final winners of each category will be announced on 2 December.
Over 280 cars were put through their paces in 2009.
The extensive judging process included hundreds of kilometres of on-road tests as well as rigorous all-terrain tests for the four-wheel-drives.
The finalists represent the three highest scoring cars in each of the 12 categories.
Cars are judged on design and function, on-road performance and value for money.
Australia’s Best Cars is regarded as one of the most comprehensive independent vehicle testing programmes in Australia.
Each year the programme provides a consumer-focused review of new cars available on the Australian market.
The annual awards are presented by the Australian Automobile Association on behalf of Australia’s top motor clubs, including RAC.
The Australia’s Best Cars 2009 magazine is available from early December and features full reports on all 36 finalists across 12 categories.
RAC members can purchase the magazine at any
Member Service Centre at the special member price of $7.95 or $9.95 to non-members.
