Operate and maintain a 4WD
This is a comprehensive two day course incorporating 4WD terms, terminology and techniques specific to the operation of a four wheel drive. The unit of competency for the training is from the Resource & Infrastructure Industry training package. The course provides an excellent opportunity for participants with experience in four wheel driving to enhance their skills and knowledge, whilst gaining recognition for their achievement.
Operate and maintain a 4WD course training includes:
- Identifying four wheel drive recovery equipment and characteristics
- Four wheel drive pre-start check (P.O.W.E.R).
- Driver ergonomics (Posture)
- Defensive Driving techniques
- Driving in difficult terrain
- Negotiating variety of obstacles
- Changing wheels, minor repairs
- Vehicle recovery exercises
- Pre departure and post trip vehicle checks
- Correct loading
- Braking techniques
- Planning for environmental impact
Duration: Two days.
Requirements: Vehicle.
Successful completion of this course will result in the applicant being awarded a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised training package unit: RIIVEH305A Operate and Maintain a Four Wheel Drive.
