Operating a 4WD
The purpose of this course is to enable 4WD owners and drivers to gain knowledge and skills specific to four-wheel drive vehicles for both on and off- road driving.
It teaches the differences between a four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive vehicle, their handling characteristics and general performance.
Training covered in the course includes:
- Vehicle and equipment checks prior to, during and after a journey.
- Operating on normal roads.
- Operating on or across a slope.
- Ascending and descending a steep slope, including stall recovery.
- Operating in rugged terrain.
- Identifying hazards.
- Correct use of a jack.
The course is conducted over a full day and consists of a short theoretical presentation, with the balance of the day filled with practical exercises. It is open to anyone who holds a current applicable driver’s licence.
On successful completion and assessment of this course the applicant will be awarded a Statement of Attainment in the nationally recognised Transport and Logistics training package unit.

Certificate: A Statement of Attainment for TLIC 2507B – Operate a 4WD vehicle will be issued on successful completion of this course.
