- Year 1 (17 years old) - Pay absolutely nothing and get free Standard Roadside Assistance for 12 months on any vehicle.
- Year 2 and 3 (18 and 19 years old) - Pay half price for Standard Roadside Assistance (only $43.50) and continue to get roadside assistance for 12 months on a nominated vehicle. Or pay nothing when you turn 18 and continue to get free2go discounts and membership benefits (excluding roadside assistance) by retaining your free2go membership as an Affiliate member.
Don't get caught out. To get roadside assistance coverage call 13 17 03 or drop into your local RAC
Member Service Centre.
Make sure you pay before you require roadside assistance otherwise you will incur additional fees.
RAC has recognised that people usually learn to drive before they get a car. Young drivers often borrow their parents' or friends' cars or are passengers in friends' cars before they buy their own. As a result, the free2go program entitles 17-year-olds to roadside assistance coverage in any vehicle they're travelling in.
We’ll transfer you across at your request so you can still take advantage of the free2go benefits.
Sorry, we can’t give you a refund when you cancel your current membership but you will have a credit which can offset next year's fee.
You can pay the difference between the level of cover you require and the level of cover you are entitled to.
Take a look at the
Roadside Assistance comparison table to get an idea of the price differences.
Call RAC on 13 11 11 (the number is on the back of your free2go membership card), quote your free2go membership number and give your details to the RAC operator.
When the RAC patrol arrives you will need to show your free2go card and some photo identification to prove your identity.
If you break down without being part of the free2go program you will have to pay an on-road join fee plus any applicable free2go subscription package fees in full, by credit card, before roadside assistance can be provided.
To avoid this fee why not join now for free (17-year-olds) or half price (18- and 19-year-olds).
After your final year as a member of the
free2go program, you can choose the cover that best suits your needs from our regular
RAC memberships.
You will also be eligible to have your years of tenure added to your regular membership and this will help with further discounts as applied to full membership.
- Call 13 17 03 for all membership enquiries and changes to your membership.

If it's been longer than 3 weeks, please give us a call on 13 17 03.
Due to the large number of applications we receive at events it may take some time for RAC to process your application, however if you apply online you will be eligible for roadside assistance benefits almost right away. If you still haven’t heard anything call 13 17 03 to speak to one of our consultants.
