Gold service

Gold service guests can choose from an elegant twin or sleeper cabin.

  • Comfortable three seater lounge for relaxing during the day.
  • Lounge converts to an upper and lower sleeping berth at night.
  • Complimentary amenities, welcome kit and fresh bath towels are provided.
  • Three pin / 240 volt power point, wardrobes, full length mirror, reading lamp and fold away table.
  • Private ensuite in twin cabins featuring compact toilet, wash basin and shower.
  • Single cabins feature wash basin, with shared toilet and shower facilities located at the end of each carriage.

Gold service superior cabin

  • The superior cabin is ideal for guests seeking additional luxury, space and comfort.
  • The Superior cabin features a three-quarter double bed and additional fold down single bed.
  • It has its own lounge area with video player, table, arm chairs and well stocked bar fridge for complimentary refreshments.
  • A surcharge applies for the superior cabin and advance bookings are necessary.
  • Please note there is usually only one superior cabin per train.

Outback explorer lounge

  • The spacious outback explorer lounge adjoins the sleeper carriages and is often the centre of activity for any journey.
  • The cosy, club-like setting is an excellent place to socialise, enjoy a drink from the fully licensed bar, as well as enjoy the passing parade of Australian landscapes.

Queen Adelaide restaurant

  • The great trains have beautifully decorated and comfortable restaurant cars, each with its own special historic theme.
  • The enjoyment of fine food and wine while travelling in a world-famous train with panoramic views across a vast, beautiful continent is a marvelous experience.
  • All meals are included in the gold service and platinum fare.
  • Superb three course meals are served by friendly waiters, on elegant china, accompanied by fine glassware and cutlery.
  • Excellent wines and beverages are available for purchase.
  • Vegetarian, children's and limited special dietary meals are available upon request when you make a reservation.
  • Breakfast meals include a choice of cooked or continental, lunch is a two course meal with various choices, and dinner is a three course meal with a number of dinner options.

Platinum service

Platinum service guests can choose from spacious double or twin sleeper cabins. Platinum service guests can expect the following feature and benefits on their journey:

  • Private double or twin seater lounge during the day, converting to full size double, or twin beds at night.
  • Private ensuite bathroom featuring full size shower, toilet and vanity basin.
  • Interior of cabins radiate true Australian character, finished in polished Tasmanian myrtle.
  • Writing desk, ideally positioned next to the window for guests to enjoy the passing parade of landscapes.
  • All cabins feature beautiful Roman blinds and dimming lights.
  • Cabins feature lockable doors and in-cabin safes.
  • Two plush ottomans with a coffee table for entertaining old or new-found friends.
  • Panoramic window and an internal window, boasting views from both sides of the carriage.
  • Quality bed linen.
  • Deluxe amenities kit.
  • Limited number of platinum cabins per service for an exclusive experience.
  • Complimentary welcome drink and appetizer on arrival into cabin.
  • Sumptuous menus included in the platinum service fare, provide a variety of meals to suit all tastes.
  • 24 hour cabin steward service to cater for guest's needs.
  • Fine Australian wine or tasty delights (available for purchase) from the 24 hour cabin menu.
  • Complimentary nightcap and turn-down service provided nightly.
  • Each morning guests enjoy freshly brewed tea / coffee delivered to their cabin.

  • To receive concessional fares Great Southern Rail is required to confirm your eligibility for the concession at time of booking and travel electronically with Centrelink. If you do not want this to happen you will need to contact Centrelink to obtain a pension concession letter as proof of your eligibility for the concession and provide this directly to Great Southern Rail before the concession can be given. To be read in conjunction with suppliers terms and conditions, a copy of which can be obtained from your RAC Travel Consultant.
