The RAC’s 2009 Red Spots campaign was run in April and May 2009. |
Almost 1,000 RAC members and WA motorists got involved in the RAC’s Red Spots ’09 campaign to help curb Perth’s rising congestion problem.
The campaign asked motorists to nominate the sections of road they found the most frustrating, with the intersection of Burns Beach Road and Connolly Drive coming in at number one.
RAC Head of Member Advocacy Matt Brown said it was concerning that six of the top 10 were located in the northern suburbs.
“To have so many Red Spots in the one area suggests infrastructure development has not kept up with population growth north of the river,” Mr Brown said.
Mr Brown said he was concerned Reid Highway was named four times for its intersections with Malaga Drive, Alexander Drive, Mirrabooka Avenue and Lord Street.
“Reid Highway is an ongoing issue for our members and WA motorists and it’s about time the government grade separated key intersections along it,” he said.
The RAC will work with an independent consultant to have the top Red Spots formally assessed.
