Day 1 | Arrive San Francisco
Your incredible rail journey of the USA begins today in the beautiful cosmopolitan city of San Francisco. Home to cable cars, world-class restaurants and a bustling cultural scene, San Francisco never ceases to amaze newcomers as well as locals. On arrival at the airport you will be met and transferred to your premium hotel.
Day 2 | San Francisco
This morning after breakfast, you will enjoy an enthralling tour of San Francisco. Along the way, stop at the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, said to be the most famous bridge in the world. You’ll also meet a community of sea lions who live at the popular Fisherman’s Wharf.
Insider Experience: Visit the infamous island of Alcatraz, once a federal penitentiary that housed criminals such as Al Capone.
Day 3 | San Francisco, Yosemite National Park
Journey by train on the San Joaquin route through California’s Central Valley, which is bordered by coastal mountain ranges and Yosemite National Park. At Merced you’ll board a coach to Yosemite National Park itself, where you’ll enjoy a tour of the Valley Floor, taking in views of Half Dome, the 900-metre El Capitan and the spectacular Bridalveil Falls. Afterwards, head to Turlock to spend the night.
Day 4 | Las Vegas
Continue the journey on the San Joaquin route southwards today. Arriving in Bakersfield, you’ll transfer by coach across the Mojave Desert into Las Vegas in the state of Nevada.
Day 5 | Las Vegas
Explore some of the incredible sights and highlights of Las Vegas at leisure today. The monorail is a great way to discover the amazing spectacles of the famous Las Vegas Strip. Absorb the atmosphere and enjoy an extraordinary selection of entertainment choices on your doorstep, including the world-famous casinos.
Day 6 | Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Flagstaff
Head across Nevada to Arizona, via the towering Hoover Dam. Entering Arizona you’ll drive on the legendary Route 66. Arrive in Flagstaff for a two-night stay surrounded by over 200 hectares of beautiful ponderosa pine forest.
Day 7 | Grand Canyon
Created by the Colorado River over a period of six million years, the canyon is almost 29 kilometres wide, and over 1.5 kilometres deep. Arrive at the South Rim, which is the main viewpoint of the canyon to take in dramatic vistas.
Day 8 | Flagstaff, Monument Valley, Durango
After breakfast, you’ll feel like you’re in an American western movie as you drive through Navajo country and Utah’s Monument Valley. The region evokes a bygone era, where cowboys herded cattle across the hills and Native Americans performed rituals passed down through generations.
Day 9 | Durango And Silverton Railroad
Travel through breathtaking canyons and past emerald-green rivers to Silverton, before arriving in Grand Junction.
Day 10 | Durango And Silverton Railroad
Today your journey will take you along one of the USA’s most scenic rail routes, the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. You will journey high up into the Rocky region, arriving in the city of Denver.
Day 11 | Denver
Explore Denver at your leisure today. The city’s promenade is over 1.5 kilometres long, lined with cafés, shops and a mountain view down every street. It also hosts many nationally recognised museums and has a number of art districts located around town.
Day 12 | Denver, Rocky Mountains
Explore the natural attractions of the Rocky Mountains and Estes Park, home to a wide array of wildlife including elk, bighorn sheep, black bears, coyotes, eagles and hawks.
Day 13 | Chicago
Arrive in Chicago this afternoon. Here, you’ll disembark with plenty of time to enjoy an evening at leisure, familiarising yourself with the dynamic vibe of this major city.
Day 14 | Chicago
Explore the ‘Windy City’ Chicago on a tour today.
Day 15 | Niagara Falls
Arrive in Buffalo and transfer to Niagara Falls. Perhaps explore the falls from the water on a river tour (own expense).
Day 16 | Niagara Falls, New York
Today, board the Maple Leaf service to New York for a day-long train journey.
Day 17 | New York
Today, enjoy a guided tour and harbour cruise around Manhattan, which takes you past the iconic Statue of Liberty.

Day 20 | New York, Toronto
Today travel to Toronto (flight not included). Here you will be met on arrival at the airport and transferred to your hotel, located in the heart of the action in downtown Toronto.
Day 21 | Niagra Falls
This morning, enjoy a Welcome Breakfast where you will have the chance to meet your fellow guests and Travelmarvel Tour Director. Then join a city tour that will take you to the picturesque waterfront districts of Toronto. Afterwards, travel to see the spectacular sight of Niagara Falls, which is collectively made up of three impressive waterfalls. From here, you’ll board a thrilling boat cruise for a journey to the base of Horseshoe Falls (raincoats provided). This is the largest of the three falls. You might also like to take an exciting helicopter flight for aerial views over Niagara Falls (own expense).
Day 22 | 1000 Islands, Ottawa
Continue on your journey to Ottawa today. Along the way, enjoy a cruise around the 1000 Islands of the St Lawrence Seaway. Cruise past tiny islands, castles reminiscent of fairytales and island mansions. You’ll be taken back to a time when pirates and bootleggers roamed the area, as well as the Gilded Age, when the rich and famous made this region their personal playground.
Day 23 | Ottawa
Today, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Ottawa, during which you will visit Parliament Hill and the historic Rideau Canal, which winds its way through the heart of the city. The rest of the day is yours to explore at leisure.
Day 24 | Ottawa, Lac-Saint-Joseph
After breakfast this morning, your journey continues to Lac-Saint-Joseph. This evening, enjoy a memorable stay at Station Touristique Duchesnay.
Day 25 | Lac-Saint-Joseph, Québec City
Enjoy the picturesque landscape of the Charlevoix region as you follow the mountainous coastline of the St Lawrence River.
Day 26 | Québec City
Spend today however you like. Consider choosing one of the select experiences available. You might like to unwind on a relaxing cruise along the St Lawrence River or explore Québec City on an informative guided walking tour (own expense). This evening, there’s time to relax and perhaps dine at a local restaurant.
Day 27 | Québec City, Montréal
Farewell Québec City after breakfast this morning and travel to Montréal. On arrival, check into your hotel. Then there’s time to get to know this European-influenced city during an afternoon sightseeing tour. You’ll discover a quintessentially French city, which excels at blending both old and new, from the elegant cobblestone streets of Old Montréal to the city’s contemporary waterfront.

Enjoy today as you choose. You might like to either spend time relaxing at your hotel or continue exploring. Montréal offers an array of culinary and cultural attractions, thanks to its French influence, eclectic food scene and famous festival line up. This evening, meet with your fellow travellers to enjoy a special Farewell Dinner.
