The City of Canning, with support from RAC’s Connecting Communities Fund, has given the Bicycle Skills Track at Hossack Park in Parkwood a fresh upgrade.
The track was first built over 30 years ago and was originally known as the City of Canning Bicycle Training Playground and Community Project. Since that time, it has been a popular place for local families to teach their children how to ride their bikes, build confidence, and understand road safety in a comfortable and secure environment.
The recent upgrades have revitalised the track with fresh asphalt, road signs, intersections and pedestrian crossings which represent real life road conditions. The addition of new play equipment such as an EV charging station have made the space fun and engaging for the kids.
This project not only provides a fun and safe environment for children to learn how to ride a bike, but it also inspires families to embrace a more active lifestyle by choosing cycling over driving. These positive shifts contribute to cleaner, healthier air – supporting one of RAC’s core vision pillars focused on environmental sustainability.
With these improvements, Hossack Park Bicycle Skills Track has given Parkwood and surrounding suburbs a fresh, community space, encourages healthy activity, and helps local children enjoy cycling for many years to come.
