Members and visitors can now use our upgraded electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, featuring faster and more modern technology. The new site can charge up to five vehicles at the same time, making charging quicker, easier and more convenient. This includes a dedicated charger for ACROD bay users to improve accessibility for members and visitors.
Once recognised as one of the busiest EV charging sites on the Chargefox network in WA and nationally, the site has played a central role in the state’s EV journey, including its connection to the first Electric Highway of its kind back in 2015.
Following these upgrades, it is set to return to peak levels, reinforcing its position as one of the most popular and trusted charging locations on the network.
The new charging station offers:
More reliable charging with modern equipment
Faster charging times for EV drivers
Technology ready for future demand
Support for RAC’s sustainability goals and vision
Charging prices have not changed, but we are trialling a new two-tier pricing system for one month. The goal is to reduce congestion during the day and encourage more overnight charging during off-peak periods.
60 cents per kWh
RAC members receive a 20% discount
45 cents per kWh
RAC members receive a 20% discount
Since 2020, the charging station has recorded more than 63,000 charging sessions. Almost 40,000 of those sessions happened in the past two years alone, showing the growing demand for EV charging in WA.
Electric vehicles are becoming more popular across Western Australia.
As of December 2025, there are more than 47,000 EVs on WA roads. Just one year earlier, there were around 30,000. That’s a growth of more than 55 per cent in only 12 months.
Today, one in every eight new vehicles registered in WA is electric. In the final quarter of 2025 alone, another 4,500 EVs were added to WA roads.
