Excitement builds ahead of the first RAC Road Safety game
With the 2026 AFL season now underway, excitement is building ahead of RAC’s inaugural Road Safety game, taking place in round 3 on Saturday 28 March when the Fremantle Dockers take on the Richmond Tigers at Optus Stadium.
As the Fremantle Dockers’ Official Road Safety Partner, RAC’s elevated partnership is centred around delivering road safety awareness and education to footy fans, to help reduce the impact of road trauma on WA roads. RAC’s Road Safety game will become an annual game as part of the Fremantle Dockers home game fixtures and will continue to grow and evolve each year of the partnership.
To bring this important messaging to life, RAC members are encouraged to become part of action and enjoy lots of free family fun, with every activity linked to raising awareness of being safer on WA roads.
Outside the stadium, the RAC Rescue Experience will be positioned outside Gate A featuring a repurposed Bell 206 helicopter fitted with virtual reality, giving footy fans the chance to experience the life-saving work of the RAC Rescue helicopters* as they undertake a mission after a serious car accident.
Inside the stadium, ticketholders are encouraged to capture the special moment with their loved ones at one of four RAC Road Safety photobooths located around the stadium concourse. Snap a free photo and take home a reminder of the people you get home safe for.
Returning again to section 101, kids can test their handball skills and road safety knowledge by taking part in RAC’s Hot Shot Challenge with sticker sheets up for grabs for the first 150 participants.
All eyes will be to the sky, ahead of the first centre ball-up as the RAC Rescue helicopter circles the stadium for the widely recognised and highly anticipated footy flyover.
*The RAC Rescue helicopters are funded by the State Government, managed by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, and sponsored by RAC.
