Autumn in the Perth Hills comes into its own with the return of the Bickley Harvest Festival, a month-long celebration of local produce, wine and community set against one of the region’s most scenic backdrops.
Now in its 26th year, the festival kicks off on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 May, launching a program that spans 28 venues across the Bickley Valley, just 35 minutes east of Perth. From award-winning wineries and boutique cider houses to distilleries, art studios and family-friendly attractions, the festival invites visitors to explore the valley at their own pace.
Opening weekend makes it easy to sample it all, with a free hop-on hop-off shuttle running between select venues, no bookings required. It’s a relaxed way to move between tastings, long lunches and behind-the-scenes experiences, including access to producers that don’t usually open to the public.
Throughout the month, a series of special events anchors the program. Highlights include a long-table Opening Night Dinner at Dusk at Core Cider House, an Italian-inspired feast at La Fattoria, and a curated degustation at Hainault Vineyard and Cafe. At MyattsField Vineyards, visitors can enjoy a lively mix of wine, art, workshops and live music, while the festival finale sees the West Australian Symphony Orchestra perform among the vines at Chalet Rigi.
Beyond the headline events, the festival offers something for every kind of visitor. Families can make a day of it with activities at venues like MyattsField, Masonmill and the Perth Observatory, while those seeking alcohol-free experiences can explore artist studios, guided tours and local produce tastings.
