The Perth Hills have a new place to browse, graze and take a little piece of the region home, with Carmel Common now open at Masonmill Grounds.
The newest addition to Masonmill is a relaxed marketplace and providore bringing together products from local producers, makers and small businesses, alongside a selection of WA-made and locally sourced goods.
There’s plenty to tempt you through the doors, from fresh sourdough and gourmet pantry goods to house-made ice cream and freshly made Knuckle Sandwiches all on offer. Choose from classics like the Bare Knuckle or tuck into the Campfire Stack, loaded with chicken parmi, tomato and mozzarella.
The range is constantly evolving, with new products and local makers regularly joining the shelves. The ice cream alone is worth the visit, featuring everything from classic chocolate and vanilla to more adventurous flavours like coconut and ube, alongside indulgent brownie bites. If you're having trouble choosing, tastings are available.
Carmel Common is also about giving small local businesses a place to showcase their products. Recent offerings have included artisan butter from WA producer Devoted Artisan Butter, paired with bread from The Bread Shed, with more local collaborations expected to appear over time.
As the newest addition to Masonmill Grounds, it joins an existing line-up that includes the restaurant, gardens and 18-hole mini golf course, as well as markets, events, weddings and functions.
That means you can easily make a few hours of it. Grab breakfast or lunch, let the kids have a round of mini golf, wander through the gardens, stop for an ice cream and have a browse through Carmel Common before heading home.
With an ever-changing mix of local food, makers and small businesses, Carmel Common is likely to look a little different each time you visit.
