Free digital maps for WA national parks

The free Avenza app features nearly one million maps that can be downloaded while you have internet access and then used when you’re out of range. It uses built-in GPS to plot your real-time location on the map you’re viewing.

Within Avenza, you’ll find a collection of maps called Smartreka, developed by the WA Parks Foundation, that cover more than 20 national parks and reserves across the state, including Francois Peron, Walyunga, Karijini, Stirling Range, and Kalbarri national parks.

Before you head off exploring, open the Avenza app and download the maps you need, so you can plan your route beforehand. Then once you’re on the trail, you’ll be able to track your movements on the map.

In addition to roads, tracks, and walking trails, Smartreka maps also display national park facilities and local attractions.

To access the collection of Smartreka maps, download the Avenza app, go to the ‘Store’ tab and search for ‘Smartreka’. From there you can download as many of the free Smartreka maps as you want. For more information, visit the WA Parks Foundation.
