Every year, more than 8,000 people flock to the heart of WA’s Southern Forests to celebrate the region’s homegrown hero — the cherry.
On Saturday 13 December, the Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival will see the town centre come alive with local produce, live entertainment and family fun.
Community, culture and cherries combine for an unforgettable, family-friendly day showcasing the region’s finest food, wine and local traditions.
Visitors can expect market stalls showcasing local produce, live music, children’s entertainment, exhibitions, a log-chopping competition and the crowd favourite — the Cherry Street parade.
Get involved in the action with fun competitions like Kids in the Kitchen for budding young chefs or cheer on some of Australia’s top axemen in the Log Chopping competition.
The entertainment line-up features the Police Pipe Band, Bunbury Men of Song, and pianist Michael P Baker, plus circus performers, face painting, inflatables, and surprise visits from Bluey and Bingo adding to the family fun.
Alongside the free festivities, several ticketed events are well worth booking early.
Enjoy the Cherry Festival Long Table Dinner, an annual highlight held under the sparkling lights of Brockman Street. Or savour a five-course degustation dinner at Two Little Black Birds Café, where Chef Joe Ditri and Chef Raj will showcase the best of local produce with a cherry twist.
The celebrations continue the next morning with the Very Cherry Brekkie at Manjimup Town Hall, featuring a delicious buffet by The Manji Pantry.
Well-known WA chef and food ambassador, Don Hancey, will also be hosting a range of events, including the Kids in the Kitchen Competition and live cooking demonstrations using local ingredients.
Sample the region’s best food and wine along Southern Forests Food Council’s Food Avenue, or stop by Tall Timbers for tastings at their one-stop cellar door.
