Returning to the Murchison Settlement from 31 July to 1 August, the Murchison Camp Oven Muster brings together camp oven cooking, live music, long-table dining and station life experiences for a weekend that celebrates the people and landscapes of the region.
Set among the vast open spaces of the Murchison, the Muster offers something increasingly sought after in modern travel: genuine connection. Over two days, visitors can swap busy schedules for campfires, shared meals and hands-on experiences that showcase the character of Australia’s rangelands.
Food is at the heart of the program, with camp oven champions Jodi and Kerry leading demonstrations and cook-offs that celebrate one of Australia’s most enduring outdoor traditions. Guests can then try their hand at camp oven scones, made using regeneratively grown flour from Miller + Baker, before enjoying them the traditional way, with jam and cream.
Beyond the cooking fires, the program features wildflower walks, working dog demonstrations, wood branding, yoga sessions and panel discussions exploring pastoral life. Stories of the Murchison take centre stage through conversations hosted by Central Station podcast’s Steph Coombs, while artists and makers showcase regional creativity through a pop-up market and a live community mural.
As daylight fades, guests can gather for Sundown Soup around the fire before settling in beneath some of Western Australia’s darkest skies. Live music with the Hippy Campers, line dancing hosted by Cherry Steppers Country and Modern Line Dancing crew with a team demo and then an all-in line dancing session, and shared meals create the kind of atmosphere that has long been synonymous with regional gatherings.
A highlight of the weekend is the Muster’s Long Table Dinner, where camp ovens take centre stage and guests come together to share food, stories and new friendships beneath the stars. You can bring along your camp oven and step into the heart of the action with community cooking over coals.
Camping is part of the experience, with all tickets including three nights of unpowered camping, plus upgraded grass sites or a hassle-free swag and dome package available.
Tickets are available online, via the Murchison Camp Oven Muster website.
