The Swan Valley is set to welcome a spectacular new attraction: a free outdoor art trail featuring giant wildlife sculptures made from reclaimed materials.

Created by internationally acclaimed Portuguese street artist, Bordalo II, and produced by FORM, Unleashed: Swan Valley will span four locations across the Valley, taking visitors through its river, bushland and vineyards.

The trail will feature large-scale sculptures of native wildlife, alongside a mural, with every artwork made using at least 60 per cent reclaimed materials. If you’re familiar with the team behind the Giants of Mandurah, you can expect an impressive collection of public art worth making a day trip for.

It’s the first time Bordalo II has created a trail in Australia, although his work can be found around the world, including in Singapore, the USA, France and Germany. The Lisbon-based artist is known for his larger-than-life animal sculptures crafted from discarded objects, using his art to highlight the impacts of excessive production and consumption.

Since 2024, the project team has worked closely with the local Swan Valley community to co-design the trail, ensuring it reflects the region’s heritage, identity and character.

Bordalo II is expected to return to Perth in early 2027 to install the artworks ahead of the trail’s public opening.

9 of WA's most vibrant art trails

An aerial, high-angle shot shows a large, bright orange water tower shaped exactly like a realistic orange fruit, complete with a small green patch at the top. The tower stands on a gray steel lattice structure in the middle of a massive orchard with long, perfectly straight rows of lush green citrus trees. In the upper-left background, industrial farm buildings and warehouse roofs are visible under a hazy sky.
