The Northam Motor Sport Festival returns on Sunday 26 to Monday 27 April 2026, transforming the town’s streets into a live racing circuit for one of WA’s most unique regional events.
At the heart of the festival is the iconic ‘Round the Houses’ racing, where classic cars compete in regularity time trials along a purpose-built street circuit. With Northam and Albany among the only places in Australia to still host this style of street racing, it offers a rare chance to experience motorsport as a living part of WA’s past.
The program also includes the popular Mount Ommanney Hillclimb, adding another layer of adrenaline for motorsport fans.
Beyond the track, the festival offers a full day of entertainment for all ages. Visitors can explore the Shannons Show ‘n’ Shine, catch high-energy Harley-Davidson stunt rider performances, and enjoy attractions like Flying 50 displays, arcade games and hands-on activities.
Families are well catered for, with free activities including face painting, a bouncy castle, AVAS and Bunnings activations, and the Northam Boulevard Arcade Alley. Local shops, food trucks and markets will be open throughout the day.
As the day winds down, live music from local band Another Fine Mess will take over the Bernard Park Soundshell from 5:30pm to 8pm, closing out the day with a relaxed evening performance.
The event is a major community effort, with organisers, the Shire of Northam and local businesses working together to bring it to life.
Visitors are encouraged to check road closures ahead of time, as public streets are temporarily transformed into the race circuit.
