There’s a buzz building in the Southern Forests, and it’s not just the bees. This coming October, Northcliffe is celebrating these tiny but mighty creatures, with a brand-new event inviting visitors to discover the sweet connection between bees, biodiversity, and the food we love.
Held on October 24 2026, the town will transform into a hive of activity dedicated to bees, the vital role they play in the ecosystem and the beauty of the Southern Forests.
Visitors can meet passionate local beekeepers, sample golden honey fresh from the hive, and learn which native plants will attract pollinators to your own backyard.
Foodies can savour sunset mead and wine pairings, browse pop-up stalls with bee-inspired art, food and crafts, or sit in on honey-themed cooking demonstrations.
For the hands-on explorers, join a bee safari excursion, learn to identify native blooms with wildflower workshops, tune in to beekeeping and hive management workshops, and discover community garden competitions, all designed to celebrate community and creativity.
Families will find plenty to keep them entertained too, with bee-themed fun runs and kids' activities, or you can opt to suit up for hands-on hive adventures, with wax foundation rolling, beginner hive inspections, and how to build your own bee hotel.
With scientists, chefs, artists and environmentalists all joining forces, make a beeline to Northcliffe Bee Festival this spring, set to be a sweet celebration of connection, conservation, and community.
