If you’re looking for inspiration and ideas to keep the kids busy during the October school holidays in Perth, we’ve found some fun activities your kids will love.
There's plenty going on right around Perth for kids of all ages right across the break. So, let’s dive in.
Little LEGO® fans, this is your big day out. Bricktober is an annual event that celebrates the humble LEGO® brick and all the creativity it inspires in little and big kids alike.
See incredibly detailed displays built from LEGO®, join in LEGO® building activities and browse Bricktober merchandise.
Now in its 11th year, Bricktober is presented by the Ascot Rotary Club with all profits from the event supporting Rotary Foundation programs.

Dinos Alive is a must for little dinosaur lovers these October school holidays. This immersive experience features several life-sized animated dinosaurs, which kids get to see up close as they wander through the exhibit’s halls and caverns. The exhibition also includes a Jurassic jungle VR experience and an interactive virtual aquarium teeming with ancient marine life.

Time: Sessions from 9:00am. Last session at 7:00pm.

Visit WA Museum Boola Bardip these school holidays for a rare glimpse into life in ancient China. The exhibit’s star attraction—the 2,000-year-old Terracotta Warriors—are on display alongside hundreds of other Chinese artefacts. In the Ancient China Activity Zone kids can explore Chinese history through activities including water painting, warrior jigsaws and a sensory play area.
From 5:30pm daily you can also see nighttime illuminations, with projections of ancient China across the Old Gaol façade within the museum site.

The annual AWESOME International Arts Festival hosts a whole range of events for kids up to age 12. The extensive program features theatre, dance, music, film, literature, visual arts and more. Some events and activities on this year’s program include Ballet Storytime Adventures, textile arts and crafts, circus skills, and many kids’ theatre performances. There are a range of free and low-cost events and most you will need to pre-book. Check the individual events for details on age suitability, cost, times and specific locations.

Aspiring dancers will love practising their plies at this school holiday ballet workshop run by two former West Australian Ballet dancers. The 1-hour class is designed for 7–12-year-old dancers to practise their ballet skills or just keep dancing through the holiday period.
Parents can stay and watch or chill out in the lovely heritage foyer. There are also kids’ activities to keep younger siblings occupied during the class.

Your little gaming fans can put their minds and hands to work building their own game at Mario Kart Mayhem. After they’ve designed and built their tracks, they’ll be off and racing, watching it all come to life in augmented reality.
The program is for kids aged 8-12 years, with all technical equipment provided.

During Whiteman Park’s Woylie Walks the kids get a special look at what happens at the park after the sun goes down. The walks will introduce them to some of the park’s nocturnal residents, including woylies and quendas.
Under special night lights, the kids will get to see the animals in their natural environment. At the soft-release enclosure they’ll even see them feeding right around them. The tour also includes a mini tour of Woodland Reserve, plus they’ll be able to experience hands-on learning with some of the resident animals.

Join a special 2km walk with experts from the Bibbulmun Track Foundation in the Perth Hills. The kids will get to meet and interact with some of the native animals from the Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and learn more about them from the Kanyana volunteers.
They’ll also get to go on a short bush trek, coming back just on twilight. Paws and Claws is designed for kids aged 5-12. All children must be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of two kids per adult, and a maximum of two adults per child.

There are plenty of boredom-busting activities to keep the kids busy at Swan Valley Adventure Centre.
Programs for kids aged 7-14 include rides on a flying fox, high ropes courses, raft building, canoeing, archery tag and a lot more, all on the centre’s 89-acre bushland property.
The activities book out fast so get in quick.

These spring school holidays Kings Park has a packed program including many free kids’ activities.
Bring them to Rio Tinto Naturescape for the free Loose Parts Bush camp. It’s on from 10am-2pm each day except Mondays during the holidays and encourages kids to use creativity and imagination to play and problem-solve using everyday items. Also free at Naturescape are the Nature Craft creative workshops, the Spring Mud Kitchen where they can get their hands on some muddy, messy fun, and the Where's Wattle springtime adventure.
