If you’ve explored Mandurah from the shore, it might be time to see it from the water.
Running throughout October, the Serpentine River Explorer is a guided kayaking experience taking visitors from the All Abilities Paddle Launch at Riverside Gardens in Greenfields up the Serpentine River towards Barragup.
The three-hour experience begins with a welcome, safety briefing and equipment allocation before heading out onto the river for more than two hours of paddling.
Along the way, guides will share insights into the river’s flora, fauna and ecosystem, with plenty of opportunities to keep an eye out for local birdlife and other wildlife.
Stable single kayaks, paddles and life jackets are supplied, along with professional guides. You’ll need to bring clothes and footwear you don’t mind getting wet, as well as a towel and change of clothes, water, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. A dry bag is also handy if you’re bringing a phone or camera.
At $49 per person, it’s a relaxed way to spend a few hours on the water and see a quieter side of Mandurah as spring gets underway.
