A mind-blowing tiramisu, an immersive coffee-plantation simulation and free tastings are all part of the plans for a reimagined Yahava KoffeeWorks in the Swan Valley.
Co-owners Jake McAuliffe and Alastair Ingram have spent the past 16 years roasting coffee in a small, rented shed. Now, they’re aiming to create Australia’s ultimate coffee destination.
Set to open in 2028, the new Yahava will move to a massive 17-acre estate two doors down from its existing location, overlooking the banks of the Swan River.
In the new venue, there will be more activities to do under one roof than almost any other coffee establishment in the world.
Forget just sipping coffee – soon you’ll walk through it. The new Yahava KoffeeWorks will feature an interactive, cinematic entrance where guests can stroll through an ultra-realistic coffee plantation mid-harvest and hear the soil crunch beneath their feet. Guests will then enter an interactive coffee processing room, before hitting a button that says “Press me when you’re ready”, leading straight into WA's biggest roastery.
At a huge 864 square metres, the new roastery will offer live roasting demonstrations, free tastings and coffee classes .
You’ll also be able to sit down and enjoy a coffee or meal from their all-day menu, featuring rustic bakery-style breakfasts and wholesome lunches made with ingredients sourced from Swan Valley growers.
For coffee lovers and budding baristas, there’ll be a range of free and paid classes, including an opportunity to blend your own coffee and create a personal label. The team also has plans to establish a small coffee plantation on-site in the future, where staff can run educational tours about the coffee-growing process.
The expansion will allow the Yahava crew to triple the amount of coffee roasted, more than double the number of customers it can seat, and double the capacity of its busy drive-thru. The new venue will also allow Yahava to double its local job opportunities beyond its current team of 65.
Yahava will continue to welcome pets, with dogs still scoring free treats at the drive-thru, so your furry friends won’t miss out. Kids are also catered for, with a big nature playground part of the new venue plans.
Whether you’re a casual coffee sipper or at-home barista, this coffee wonderland is shaping up to be the ultimate weekend destination when it opens its doors.
