RAC is proud to be supporting Kimberley Connected, a program that helps young people in the Kimberley learn important life skills through football.

The Kimberley is one of the most remote and culturally rich regions in Western Australia. However, living far from major cities can make everyday life more challenging. Many communities have limited access to education, health services and road safety resources.

Road crashes are common in regional WA. This makes road safety education especially important for young people growing up in these areas.

Through our partnership with the Fremantle Dockers and the Purple Hands Foundation, RAC is helping bring road safety education to schools across the Kimberley, creating safer communities now and into the future.

What is Kimberley Connected?

Kimberley Connected is a school-based program that uses football to engage students while teaching important life skills. It helps young people build confidence, resilience and pride in their communities.

Workshops cover topics such as:
  • Eating well and staying active

  • The impacts of drugs and alcohol

  • Caring for Country, supported by Containers for Change

  • Road safety education, supported by RAC

The program is about more than sport. It gives students the chance to learn skills that help them stay safe and healthy in everyday life.

The Role of the Purple Hands Foundation

The Purple Hands Foundation is the charitable arm of the Fremantle Dockers and started in 2021. It uses football to create positive social change.

RAC’s Role in the Program

As part of Kimberley Connected, RAC supports road safety education in classrooms.

Teachers deliver hands-on lessons that help students understand:
  • Why wearing seatbelts and helmets saves lives

  • How to check that their bike is safe

  • How to ride e-scooters safely and follow the law

These lessons encourage safer choices on and around the road.

Why This Matters for RAC Members

For RAC members, this partnership supports our shared goal of making WA roads safer for everyone. By teaching road safety early, RAC is helping reduce deaths and serious injuries on our roads.

By supporting programs like Kimberley Connected, RAC can work directly with communities across WA and make a real difference where it’s needed most.

By combining footy, learning and road safety, the program is helping young people build a safer and stronger future—and RAC members are helping make this possible.
