From our members raising funds for field ambulances during World War I to helping WA Police establish Neighbourhood Watch, to our 20-year sponsorship of the RAC Rescue helicopters* and our bstreetsmart educational events. We continue to work closely with emergency services, united by a shared goal of saving lives on WA roads.
We are proud to strengthen this commitment through a new partnership with St John WA, supporting the volunteers who provide lifesaving care across the state, particularly in regional and remote communities, where St John WA volunteer team members are often the first responders to road crashes and other medical emergencies.
RAC and St John WA are supporting the everyday people who step up in emergencies, ensuring they have the training, confidence and tools to respond when it matters most.
St John WA volunteer team members play a critical role in responding to road crashes, medical emergencies and community incidents across Western Australia. In many regional towns, volunteers make up a large part of emergency response teams. They often travel long distances, work with limited resources, and help raise funds to support local needs. RAC’s partnership with St John recognises this vital role and focuses on strengthening regional volunteer capabilities.
RAC is funding a series of hands-on, practical training workshops delivered in regional locations across WA. These sessions focus on road trauma response and emergency readiness, helping volunteers build skills, confidence and preparedness for real world scenarios they are likely to face in their local area.
RAC is also contributing to the St John WA’s Community Impact Fund, which provides small grants to local St John subcentres. These grants help volunteers purchase equipment, upgrade facilities or meet immediate local needs and reduces the reliance on community fundraising.
Many regional and remote communities rely heavily on volunteers during emergencies. When an incident occurs, these volunteers are often locals helping locals.
By supporting training and local projects, RAC is helping make sure regional volunteers are well equipped, well supported and ready to respond
This partnership is another way RAC and its members are supporting efforts to build safer roads and stronger communities across Western Australia.
