The nine towns that make up WA’s Southern Forests and Valleys region stretch from the rolling green pastures of Balingup in the north to Walpole’s tranquil inlet in the south, each with its own unique offerings.

To ensure those experiences are available to all visitors, a number of accessible touring itineraries have been developed that showcase the highlights of the region and cover a wide range of activities and experiences.

The itineraries detail accessible features in parks, trails, and other attractions, accessible accommodation, and public facilities.

Here are just some of the ways accessible tourism is being accommodated in the region.

Manjimup’s popular Power Up Electricity Museum is not only fully wheelchair accessible but is also equipped with a hearing loop system and offers free access to devices that integrate with personal hearing aids.

Aerial Adventures Pemberton has wheelchair accessible entry points and ramps.

The boats used by Donnelly River Cruises, which cruise through the lower section of the Donnelly River, are all wheelchair accessible.

In Nannup, Off the Beaten Track tours offers accessible experiences that can be specially tailored for individuals and groups.

Pemberton Discovery Tours uses vehicles that are fully accessible and feature wide doorways, large steps, and handrails for ease of entry.

Donnybrook Swimming Pool at the Donnybrook Recreation Centre has a pool hoist to allow easy access to the pool.

And in Boyup Brook, look out for the wheelchair-friendly playground that is being developed at Sandakan Park.
