Nothing quite beats a Saturday or Sunday morning spent sipping coffee, strolling stalls, and filling a basket to the brim with colourful and delicious fresh local produce.
With an array of fruit, vegetables, bread, preserves, and more, Perth’s farmers' market scene is flourishing, and sees thousands of locals flock to primary schools, parks, and makeshift market areas every weekend.

The Subi Farmers' Market is one of the oldest farmers' markets in WA and was established to create opportunities for local and regional producers. The market is popular for its array of breakfast options, live local entertainment, and the generous spread of fresh fruit, vegetables, preserves, breads, condiments and other food products. There are more than 80 stalls to peruse, and plenty of shady spots to sit while you tuck into Moroccan shakshuka, gourmet crumpets or Spanish breakfast tapas.

Spending a morning in the hills leisurely browsing the stalls at the Kalamunda Farmers Market, has an air of romance about it. Take your pick from the market’s enormous array of seasonal fruit and vegetables, free-range eggs, organic meat, naturally fermented sourdough, preserves, pastries, gluten-free baked goods, and more.
The market also sells handy packets of spice mixes, potted plants, and handmade soaps and natural beauty products.

The Kyilla Primary School’s parent committee originally started this community farmers' market to bring school families together, but today, it’s a popular weekly market that is open to the wider community and filled to the brim with fresh produce. Along with fresh fruit and vegetables, the market is also a go-to spot for baked goods, flowers, fresh herbs, seafood, eggs, and much more.

Under the towering pine trees of George Burnett Park, the Farmers Market on Manning is a rather convenient place to shop. There’s plenty of free parking, and most importantly, more than 80 stalls with plenty of fresh grown and baked produce. The gourmet goods on offer range from organic olive oils, fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, and artisan butters to organic teas, farm fresh eggs, and delicious chutneys. And if you arrive hungry, there are plenty of breakfast options, including bratwurst, crepes, scrolls, pastries, and fresh scones.

Managed by the Serpentine Jarrahdale Food and Farm Alliance Inc. (a not-for-profit organisation), the SJ Farmers Market brings together producers from Serpentine, Jarrahdale, and other growing areas around the Peel region, providing them an outlet to sell directly to consumers. You’ll find everything from meat and fruit to butter and baklava here, even goodies for your pup and a facepainting stall. It’s a kid-friendly, dog-friendly place to spend your Saturday morning.

The Mount Claremont Farmers' Market has been running since 2007, with a whopping 55 stalls selling sustainable produce and locally made products. You can find everything from heirloom vegetables and fresh herbs to farmstead cheeses and freshly baked croissants here; it’s the perfect spot for filling up your pantry. Anyone with dietary requirements will also appreciate the range of vegan, paleo, gluten-free, and dairy-free products, with a range of granola, specialty bread, natural nut butters, and cakes for sale.
Breakfast is also a winner here; there’s everything from bacon and egg rolls and pastries, to savoury crepes and stuffed Afghani flatbreads. And, when it comes to caffeine, there’s plenty to choose from.

Not to be confused with the Fremantle markets, the Freo Farmers' Market (proudly plastic-free) is a weekly, outdoor affair with fresh produce stalls, activities and live entertainment. Selling goods from local farmers, producers, small businesses, and local artisans, this is where you come for your fresh goods and homemade preserves before enjoying a coffee under the shade of the trees.
It’s also one of the best farmers' markets in Perth for kids, as there’s an animal farm, face painting, and eco-friendly craft workshops on offer each week. There are extra market dates over the school holidays, so keep an eye on the Freo Farmers' Market Facebook page for more information.

Perth City Farm has been operating for more than 20 years, and every Saturday, its lush, green courtyard swells with the presence of local organic and biodynamic growers and producers; it’s a mecca for people passionate about ethical and sustainable produce. Stall holders here take the utmost care in their produce, selling free-range eggs, unrefined honey, health foods, spray-free fruit and vegetables, and other goods, including organic clothing, homemade lotions, and eco-friendly baby care.
Make a morning of it and stay for breakfast after browsing, served by the team at Be Free Perth. The Subiaco outfit has now taken up residence at Perth City Farm, serving delicious miso mushroom waffles, bircher muesli, smoothies, and, of course, coffee, in the café from 7:30 am every Saturday.

Under the gums at Kingsway Reserve, the Kingsway Community Market sees a rolling roster of fresh produce, gourmet meats, baked goods, and plant stalls come through each week. Keep an eye on the market’s social pages for an updated list of the weekend’s producers, who’ll be providing the live entertainment, and for any upcoming special events. Once a month, the Steel and Stone Co drops in to sharpen your household knives and scissors, and throughout the year, select market weekends take on a ‘one day only’ theme—think Greek, French, or Italian.
Dogs are more than welcome to come along and browse with you. They’ll nose out the dog treat stalls in no time.
