If you’re gluten-free, you’ll know the drill: walk into a bakery, scan the cabinet and hope there’s at least one thing you can eat. At Fika, the challenge is deciding which treat to try first.
The new Saturday morning bakery at Dunsborough’s Elski has flipped the usual set-up on its head, with an entirely gluten-free cabinet packed with the sort of things you actually want to eat.
We’re talking fresh focaccia, protein bread, Basque cheesecakes, almond croissants and cinnamon scrolls, all baked in small batches and ready to enjoy alongside your coffee.
Fika comes from the team behind Elski, bringing even more variety to Dunsborough's already impressive food scene. And while the bakery is a dream for gluten-free diners, its freshly baked treats are likely to win over anyone who walks through the door.
If Elski is new to you, it's a Danish-inspired dessert bar on Dunn Bay Road, known for its house-made ice cream crafted with natural ingredients and fresh fruit.
The menu is inspired by the Australian seasons, with Danish touches throughout, from the flavours to traditional treats such as guf and flodeboller, both staples in Danish ice cream parlours.
Alongside its signature ice cream, Elski offers dairy-free and vegan sorbets, as well as creamy soft serves with a range of toppings.
Fika builds on that commitment to quality, bringing the team's passion for exceptional ingredients and handcrafted treats into a bakery setting.
The bakery pops up at Elski on Saturday mornings from 7am. Grab a coffee, choose your pastry, then stroll to the beach, wander around town, or explore further down the coast.
