There's something magical about sitting in a woodfired sauna surrounded by forest, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over a natural swimming pool.
Now, visitors to Pemberton can experience just that, with a new floating sauna open on the banks of the historic Pemberton Pool.
The experience features two woodfired sauna rooms, heated to around 75-80 degrees, with expansive windows overlooking the water and surrounding karri trees.
Run by the team behind Tasmania's popular floating sauna at Lake Derby, the experience combines the heat of the sauna with a refreshing dip in the natural pool, where the water is currently around 12 degrees.
Guests can dive straight into the pool from the sauna deck, the water is around 2.5 metres deep, or take the ladder down for a more gentle entry.
Keep an eye out for ducks passing by, along with the occasional kayaker enjoying the pool.
Pemberton Pool is already a popular spot for locals and visitors, with its sheltered swimming areas, grassy picnic space and access to mountain bike trails. The floating sauna adds another reason to visit this beautiful location.
Changerooms are available at the sauna, although there are no showers or bathroom facilities on site. Public toilets and an outdoor shower are available at Pemberton Pool for general use.
The sauna is open seven days a week from 7am to 9pm.
Bookings can be made online.
