Mandurah’s iconic waterways have long been one of the region’s defining drawcards, and now they’re becoming even more accessible to experience.

The city has unveiled Western Australia’s first all-abilities paddle launch, paired with the new Paddle-trails to Nature program, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the Peel-Harvey Estuary through inclusive, nature-based paddling experiences designed for people of all abilities.

Developed in partnership with the WA Government, Visit Mandurah and the City of Mandurah, the initiative removes barriers through purpose-built infrastructure, trained local operators and thoughtfully designed tours.

Paddlers can choose between guided tours and self-guided trails, gliding through calm waterways where dolphins, birdlife and thriving wetlands form the backdrop.

Launching in February, the guided tours depart from the Riverside Gardens Foreshore All Abilities Paddle Launch in Greenfields. The Sunrise Golden Hour Paddle invites early risers to experience Mandurah at its most tranquil. Taking place on glassy, sheltered waterways, the guided session glides through quiet channels as the sun rises over the landscape.

For those who prefer to see the waterways through a lens, the Still Water Photography Paddle offers a slower, photography-focused experience. Moving at a gentle pace, this tour prioritises time and positioning for photography, creating opportunities to frame wildlife, reflections and changing light conditions rarely seen from shore.

Across all experiences, encounters with dolphins, birdlife and tranquil wetland scenery reinforce just how immersive exploring by paddle can be.
