There's been a fresh crop of coffee spots popping up across Perth, from tiny CBD counters and neighbourhood cafes to coastal venues and a coffee van that comes with a bouquet. Here are 20 new contenders for your daily coffee run.
For the coffee connoisseurs, Willing Coffee’s new Mount Lawley flagship is all about what’s in the cup, with rotating local and international roasters and a menu spanning espresso and filter coffee.
There are also pastries for that essential coffee-and-something-sweet pairing, as well as a “Willing to Split”, where the same espresso is served as both a straight shot and a milk-based coffee.
Pagi Pagi is shaking up the usual café offering with an Indonesian-Korean twist, serving nasi bungkus, Korean-style garlic buns, matcha and coffee alongside treats such as hojicha burnt cheesecake, matcha banoffee and Biscoff cinnamon croissants. Ideal when your morning caffeine fix needs something a little more interesting than smashed avo.

Butter N’ Brew has joined Mount Hawthorn’s coffee strip with the essentials: coffee, pastries and sweet treats. From the same owners as Fika Patisserie, it’s a handy new stop on Scarborough Beach Road when you’re after a quick caffeine fix. The buttery lineup includes mixed berry Danish, mango and passionfruit morning buns, Portuguese tarts and lemon mascarpone travel cake.
If your coffee order comes with questions about bean varieties and brewing methods, March Coffee’s new CBD outpost on St Georges Terrace should be on your radar. The tiny kissaten-inspired space serves rotating brews and rare coffees, including the much-talked-about $100-a-cup eugenioides. You can also find fresh pastries, Bagel O’s bagels and Arthur Bakery treats.
No Title is keeping things simple in Leederville with a compact setup focused on the daily brew. It’s one to add to your rotation if you like your coffee spots small, unfussy and focused on what’s in the cup, with early opening hours for the morning crowd. And with Angelwood right next door, you can always follow your coffee with a pie.
It’s not hard to guess what Cold Foam does best. One of Perth’s tiniest new coffee shops, the William Street café is dedicated to inventive cold-foam creations that elevate the humble iced coffee. Add it to your next Northbridge caffeine crawl and choose from flavours like Cookie Butter, Strawberry Shortcake, Blueberry Crumble and the ever-popular Cinny Scroll.
Few pairings rival coffee and a good book, and Grounded Cafe Bookstore is combining both under one roof in Fremantle. The new café-bookstore hybrid is set to open on 3 October, giving locals a new spot to settle in with a fresh brew and their next read.
Petals & Pour might be one of the cutest stops on the list, with an adorable little coffee van serving up your caffeine fix with a side of flowers. Choose your coffee, pick your blooms, and they’ll package it all together in a handy carrier to take away. The menu covers espresso, matcha and flavoured lattes, including tiramisu and pistachio.
The former Bacco site has a new life as At Shenton, an all-day café and restaurant on Onslow Road. The menu covers everything from breakfast and brunch to burgers, pasta and dinner, making it a handy new local for pretty much any time of day.
The clue is in the name at Bobby’s on the Go, an upcoming East Bunbury coffee stop from the crew behind Benesse. Designed for those who like their coffee ready to grab and go, it’s also proof that the latest wave of coffee openings isn’t stopping at Perth’s inner suburbs.
You could easily walk past The Parallel if you didn’t know where to look. Tucked down a little backstreet at 143 Barrack Street, this coffee and toastie bar is one of those CBD spots you’re rather pleased to stumble across. There’s espresso, filter and matcha, alongside loaded toasties filled with everything from brisket and buttermilk-braised chicken to truffle mushroom.
Nook & Co has given Subiaco’s café scene an Asian-inspired refresh, with its second cafe pairing specialty coffee with dishes such as chilli scrambled eggs, loaded breakfast plates and focaccia sandwiches. It’s one for when your morning coffee comes with an appetite attached.
Coffee with an ocean view? Sandara makes a pretty good case for travelling north. Part of the new Dunes Beach Resort in Mindarie, the venue overlooks the Indian Ocean and combines a café, kiosk, restaurant and bar, so you can make the visit last well beyond your first coffee.
DripHouse has taken its specialty coffee offering beachside, opening a new Cottesloe location alongside its Perth CBD and Scarborough venues. Known for espresso and cold drip, the new outpost gives you another excuse to combine your caffeine fix with a morning wander by the water. Keep an eye out for their loaded cinny scrolls, with flavours including Kinder and Biscoff.
The 1899 House is taking coffee beyond the morning rush, opening from 7am through to 9pm and moving from breakfast into lunch and dinner. Its Asian-fusion menu also sets it apart from the standard café offering, while the signature coffee series includes Tira-Mis-U Baby, Salted Swan View and Bronnie Sugar Rush.
The Little Kitin Cafe is a little green surprise among Balcatta’s industrial surrounds, complete with picnic benches, fairy lights and a firepit. Grab a coffee with a brekky wrap, raid the cabinet for sweet treats, and there are even dog treats for your four-legged coffee date.
Cub is doing a little bit more than just pouring coffee. From the team behind Little Lion Coffee, the Nedlands café has an open production kitchen turning out pastries, cakes, pies and grab-and-go food, alongside Dimattina coffee and a leafy courtyard.
Coffee, toasties and records. Stereo Stereo has its priorities sorted. The Morley coffee bar serves beans from nearby Twin Peaks Coffee Roasters alongside guest roasters, with filter coffee, cold brew, pastries and toasties on the menu.
For the early birds, Holmes opens from 6am with specialty coffee and pastries from Knead Bread & Coffee. If you’re not quite ready to head home after your first cup, the Shenton Park café also has Wi-Fi and power outlets, making it easy to settle in with a laptop.
Suzy’s is bringing a little more attitude to the Hillarys coffee run, with a waterside setting at Hillarys Boat Harbour and a daytime menu of specialty coffee, matcha, cold foams and seasonal drinks.
