The Fremantle Bridge isn’t the only new thing in Perth’s historic port town.
From cosy bookshops and creative havens to loaded French toast and intimate listening bars, a wave of new openings is giving you even more reasons to plan a day trip to Freo.
Here are 10 of Fremantle’s newest openings to add to your list.
Good coffee and good reads are on the agenda at this cosy new cafe tucked away inside the Fremantle Malls.
Order a specialty drink, such as a Biscoff or Nutella latte, or stick to your regular coffee while browsing goodies from fellow small businesses, including fragrant candles, flowers and sweet treats.
Then, flick through the shelves of secondhand novels, from romantasy favourites to timeless classics, or let fate decide with a Blind Date with a Book.

In an era of AI and all things digital, there’s something comforting about a shop dedicated to putting pen to paper.
Discover your creative side at Blobfish Paper Co, a beautiful stationery store packed with crafts, gifts and all kinds of paper goods.
Browse shelves lined with notebooks, stickers, pens, greeting cards, toys and gifts, alongside stacks of paper, DIY craft kits, calendars and books.
Need some Christmas shopping inspiration? Pop in to find something special for the crafty person in your life.
Find it: 44 Market Street, next to Gorman.
Australia’s first French toast bar is tucked away in the food hall at Fremantle Markets. The team behind WOMO Toast have caught our attention with its viral fried Japanese sandwiches, and it’s clear they know a thing or two about a loaded brunch.
The sando menu features flavours such as fresh strawberry, cookies and cream, crème brûlée and pistachio crunch. There’s also kaya toast, served with Southeast Asian coconut jam and a boiled egg, alongside Magic Fairy, their fresh take on classic Aussie fairy bread.
It can be a little tricky to find, tucked near the men’s toilets in the general food section of the markets, next to Brazilian Barbecue. Consider it a delicious discovery worth seeking out.
Find it: Fremantle Markets, near Brazilian Barbecue.
What began as an ice cream van in Rockingham 13 years ago has grown into a thriving family business. Now, owners Craig and Maria have opened their first bricks-and-mortar venue, Sweet Spot Freo.
You can’t miss the little pink shop in the heart of Tidal Lane. It’s an ideal summer pit stop while exploring Freo, serving up ice cream, soft serve, hot doughnuts, coffee and cold drinks.
Whether you’re after a scoop in the sunshine or a sweet treat to keep you going, this one’s worth adding to your itinerary.
Find it: Tidal Lane, inside the FOMO precinct.
A conti pop-up in The Piazza? Just what Perth ordered.
Meaning ‘a bite’ in Italian, Morso is a little sandwich bar serving up specialty sandwiches on tiger bread and shokupan, with plenty of delicious fillings to choose from
There’s also brownies and doughnuts for those with a sweet tooth, while drip coffee rounds out the drinks menu.
This little blue-and-white shop is only sticking around until 31 December 2026, so don’t leave it too late to get your conti fix.
Find it: 36 South Terrace, open Wednesday to Sunday.
There’s been plenty of buzz around Dolce Venezia, where queues have been forming for its authentic Italian sandwiches.
The focaccia is made fresh daily, including the Ducale, filled with homemade truffle cream, premium prosciutto crudo, fresh rocket, creamy burrata and truffle oil.
This small, family-run business stays true to its Italian roots, with croissants — or cornetti, as they’re known in Italy — baked fresh and filled with flavours such as Nutella, pistachio, and vanilla and lemon custard.
And don’t leave without trying the tiramisu. Made fresh daily with coffee-soaked savoiardi biscuits, creamy mascarpone and a dusting of cacao, it’s a classic for good reason. For something different, look out for the limited pistachio version, made with smooth pistachio cream.
Find it: Shop 1, 74 South Terrace, outside Fremantle Markets.
In a nod to Fremantle’s seafaring history, this new bookshop specialises in maps, charts and travel literature.
Opened in July, The Maritime and Travel Bookshop gives travellers and book lovers another place to browse alongside local favourites such as Paper Bird and New Edition Bookstore.
With its nostalgic collection of holiday guidebooks, world maps and nautical gems, it’s the kind of shop that might just inspire your next overseas adventure or family road trip.
Find it: 7 South Terrace, next to Gino’s.
For vinyl lovers and music enthusiasts, Kissa brings something a little different to Fremantle — and it feels right at home.
This hi-fi listening room centres around a handmade sound system, inviting guests to immerse themselves in high-quality sound and rare music from around the world.
The intimate, BYO venue seats up to 25 people, with advance bookings encouraged. Tickets include a welcome tea and nibbles, making it a unique way to spend an evening with friends or discover something new through music.
Find it: The Piazza, 36 South Terrace.
The team behind Wines of While has quietly opened a new cafe and wine bar in Fremantle, inviting guests to meet, listen, drink and dance inside the heritage Phillimore Chambers building.
Described as ‘not quite a listening bar, not quite a dance party’, Cafe Music is centred around vinyl, seasonal snacks and a space that’s set to evolve.
The full offering is expected to include simple, seasonal fare such as Wines of While bread, sandwiches and pastries, alongside coffee and wine.
For now, the team is keeping things a little mysterious, with no set opening hours. Keep an eye on its Instagram for surprise weekend updates.
Find it: 7 Phillimore Street. Look for the door with the horseshoe and yellow leadlight windows.
Mojo’s has got its mojo back. The much-loved North Fremantle music venue has undergone a major transformation, reopening as a neighbourhood bar with a new Greek-inspired kitchen serving food every day.
Head chef Reece Lardi has introduced a Greek-Cypriot, share-style menu featuring souvlaki, koftas, spanakopita and hand-cut Greek chips.
There’s plenty happening beyond the kitchen, too. Join the weekly pub quiz on Wednesday nights or check out the packed calendar of upcoming live shows.
With good food, drinks and live music all under one roof, Mojo’s is ready for its next chapter.
Find it: 237 Queen Victoria Street, North Fremantle.
