This November, the heart of WA’s avocado country will spring to life with a brand-new celebration of food, farming and community spirit. The Pemberton Avocado Festival promises three days of fun, flavour and adventure for families, foodies and the avo-obsessed.
From a vibrant food festival to a smoky BBQ masterclass and a glamourous gala night, the weekend will showcase the region’s prized “green gold” like never before.
Thanks to its cool climate, fertile karri loams and regular rainfall, Pemberton sits at the centre of Australia’s top avocado-growing region. Harvest peaks from late spring into summer, making November the perfect time to visit and celebrate the fruit that’s helping put this Southern Forests town on the map.
The signature event takes over Pemberton RSL Memorial Park and Playground from 9am to 4pm. Wander through more than 40 market stalls filled with local produce, artisanal gifts and crafts. Taste your way through avo-inspired dishes, gourmet bites and local wine.
Families are well looked after with the free Costa Kid Zone, featuring face painting, inflatable games, farm animals – and even quirky marron races. Live music, fashion parades and performances will keep the festival atmosphere buzzing all day.
On Saturday evening, Hidden River Estate hosts an elegant night of fine food, wine and live music. Chef Ardal will craft a creative menu starring avocado in unexpected ways, paired with premium local produce like marron, pork, lamb and salmon caviar.
The gala is your chance to taste just how versatile the avocado can be and enjoy incredible food, local wines and decadent desserts. Event buses are available from Pemberton and Manjimup.
Fire up your Friday night with BBQ legend Gusface Grillah at the Pemberton Golf Club. Learn the secrets of smoking and grilling with avocado wood, pick up insider tips and taste the smoky results.
Whether you’re a BBQ beginner or a seasoned smoker, this interactive masterclass will keep your flame for BBQ flavours well-lit.
Round out your weekend by exploring Pemberton’s natural beauty and food scene. Take a guided 4WD tour of the Yeagarup Dunes, wander through ancient karri forests, or enjoy long lunches at local wineries and farm gates.
