Construction of a new public jetty at Kennedy Bay in Port Kennedy will begin in November 2026, with the structure expected to open in late 2027.
The 136-metre jetty will be a centrepiece of the broader Kennedy Bay village centre development, less than an hour's drive south of Perth near Rockingham.
Boating enthusiasts will be able to moor at the jetty, taking advantage of Kennedy Bay's sheltered waters and convenient access to the beachside village. The location was selected for its deeper, navigable waters and partial protection from prevailing winds and swell.
The jetty's deck will range from three to eight metres wide and sit approximately 4.5 metres above the water at its highest point. Plans include boat moorings and separate lower-level platforms to provide access to the water and vessels.
Located just metres from the beach, the village centre will become a destination for locals and visitors, with development of the coastal precinct well underway. The jetty is part of a wider vision to establish Kennedy Bay as a family-friendly coastal destination, combining boating facilities with dining, shopping and residential living.
Two-storey brewpub Long Point Brewing Co. opened earlier this year as part of the precinct's development, offering a restaurant, outdoor playground and independent craft brewery.
The next stage will add a beachfront corso, featuring a boutique grocer, cafe and restaurant, apartments and townhouses alongside short-stay accommodation to complete the precinct.
Once complete, the jetty will be open to the public 24 hours a day, with the development designed to maintain existing beach access.
Place Development is delivering the project in partnership with WABGR.
