After a year’s hiatus in 2025, Sculpture by the Sea, one of the world’s largest free outdoor exhibitions, is back on the WA events calendar.
Set along the sand and shoreline of Perth’s iconic Cottesloe Beach, the exhibition will feature more than 70 large-scale, multi-dimensional artworks, displayed against the spectacular backdrop of the Indian Ocean.
From seawall to sand and across the surrounding grassed areas and pathways, the temporary installations transform the coastline into an open-air sculpture park unlike anything else in Australia.
Now in its 21st year, the exhibition runs from 6 to 23 March, with an estimated 220,000 visitors expected across the 18-day event.
Australian and international artists will compete for several major awards, including the Kids’ Choice Award and the annual Major Award, selected by the exhibition’s judging panel. Visitors can also have their say by voting for their favourite artwork in the People’s Choice Award.
Weekends and sunset periods are typically the busiest times, so planning ahead is recommended. A free daily ‘Cott Cat’ beach-to-rail shuttle bus will operate throughout the exhibition to help visitors get to and from the event.
To make the most of your coastal visit, pack a picnic to enjoy on the grass, grab fish and chips nearby, or book a table at one of the many dining spots along Marine Parade, including Indigo Oscar, Il Lido, Tiger Fish and the Cottesloe Beach Hotel.
This year also features a free indoor exhibition, showcasing small-scale works by participating artists — perfect for art collectors and sculpture lovers alike. The exhibition will be located at the Sea View Golf Club Main Clubhouse on Jarrad Street.
