In a time when fast fashion and throwaway, mass-produced products are easier to access than ever, browsing through artisanal, handmade products is such a simple pleasure.
As the weather fines up in WA, and we barrel towards the biggest gift-giving season of the year, Perth’s favourite makers markets are gearing up for their final editions of 2025. Forget the ‘failsafe’ socks, jocks, chocolates, and generic scented candles; unique Christmas gift shopping is made easy at these Perth Christmas markets.
9:30am - 4:30pm, 15th & 16th November; Claremont Showground
The end-of-year edition of the bi-annual Polka Dot Vintage Market is less about Christmas wreaths and hand-painted baubles and much more ‘hunt through a vast collection of vintage crystal vases and pretty 50s millinery’. Even without all of the festive paraphernalia, it’s one of the best markets to visit in the lead-up to the big day. Bringing makers, collectors, and creatives together under one roof, the markets are a treasure trove of antiques, collectables, and artisanal crafts; it’s the perfect place to find a unique gift for the hard-to-buy-for someone or the person who seemingly has everything. It’ll be near impossible to walk out of there without a little treat for yourself, too.
As you’re browsing the 150+ stalls, enjoy the live and free musical entertainment, or head to the main stage where four vintage-inspired parades and Q&As will take place across the course of the weekend. There’s a $10 entry fee (payable on the door), which supports Uni Camp for Kids, Subi Women’s Shed, and the CHS Music Program. Parking is available within the showgrounds.
15th November, 29th November, 6th December, 13th December, and 20th December; Clarko Reserve, Trigg
Find an exciting array of sun, salt, and surf-inspired products (AKA the perfect Christmas gift for the ocean-lover) at the fortnightly Summer x Salt markets by the sea. Driven by a wellness and eco-friendly ethos, the team behind the markets does its utmost to provide the community with more than just 70+ market stalls brimming with the wares of high-quality makers and producers. Head down pre-10:00am and you can take part in the Seagals sunrise dip, community meditation and sound healing, beachside yoga, or an outdoor pilates class. Come December—specifically the 6th, 13th, and 20th of December—the activity roster is bolstered even further with the addition of kids' Christmas workshops and ‘Salty Santa photos’. The best part? It’s all completely free.
The markets run from 8:00am to 1:00pm on the scheduled market days. Dogs are welcome, but single-use plastics are not, so remember to pack your reusable totes and Keep Cups to keep the event plastic-free.
16th November, University of Western Australia
This year, steer clear of the generic, big-brand Christmas presents and, instead, shop for something locally-made at Perth UpMarket. On November 16th, more than 250 local designers and makers will set up stalls at UWA’s Winthrop Hall, selling everything from art and crafts to one-off fashions, gourmet treats, and handmade jewellery. Wandering the stalls, coffee in hand, and meeting the people behind the brands is a far more wholesome (and entirely less stressful) experience than battling the crowds at Perth’s sprawling shopping centres.
For a list of all the designers and makers that you can expect to see on November 17th, head to the Perth Upmarket website. There are also links to each exhibitor’s website and social media accounts to aid you in your Christmas shop planning. Doors open from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and parking and entry at the event are free.
22nd - 23rd November, Claremont Showground
The Boutique Christmas Market may be on a smaller scale than some of the other November markets that precede it, but what it lacks in stall numbers, it more than makes up for in the quality of its makers. Amongst all the stalls selling gourmet food and artisanal gins, you’ll find local makers and creators selling their timber toys, sterling silver jewellery, and ornate leather handbags. You can easily tick off all your Christmas shopping at this one 40-stall market.
The doors to Claremont Showgrounds’ Wilkinson Gallery (through Gate 1 off Graylands Road) open from 10:30am to 6:00pm on Saturday, November 22nd, and 9:00am to 2:00pm Sunday, November 23rd. Parking is free and available on site. For a sneak peek at the kinds of wares you can expect, see the list of exhibitors here.
29th November, Supreme Court Gardens
Shop beneath the stars when the makers, designers, and creators at Christmas Twilight Perth Makers Market, once again, take over the Supreme Court Gardens. From 4:00pm to 9:00pm, more than 80 food, art, accessory, and handicraft stalls will be selling their wares, and free live music will fill the air. Take a moment from stall-browsing to sit down and enjoy it, sampling dishes from the various food trucks as you do. If you bring the kids, keep an eye out for Santa, who’ll be making an appearance and spreading the Christmas cheer.
There’s plenty of parking available across from the gardens at the CPP Terrace Road (off Governor’s Ave), but the easiest way to venture into the city is by public transport. It’s a short walk through Elizabeth Quay from the Elizabeth Quay train station, or a slightly longer 10-minute walk from the Perth train station.
5th - 7th December, Fremantle Arts Centre
Fremantle is the unofficial capital of WA’s creative scene, so you can go into the 46th annual Bazaar Makers Market with high expectations. Undoubtedly, among the 50 stallholders, you will find a lot of wonderful artworks for sale, as well as natural skincare inspired by the Australian bush, Aboriginal art jewellery, and organically shaped, handmade ceramics. Held in the shady grounds of the Fremantle Arts Centre, the market’s surroundings are just as beautiful as the wares you’ll find there.
The markets kick off at 5:00pm on Friday, December 5th (closing at 9:00pm), and continue from 9:00am to 5:00pm on both Saturday, December 6th and Sunday, December 7th. There’s a nominal entry fee of $2, payable on the door. For the complete list of this year’s exhibitors, see the event page here.
13th and 14th December, Mundaring Arena
There’s a distinct community feel to the Perth Hills Artisan Market; it’s in their support of youth vendors (aged 18 and under), the relaxed ‘Hills’ atmosphere, and the unique brand of country-style homemade goods you’ll find for sale. Expect to see the work of local potters and woodworkers alongside that of local artists, jewellery makers, and toymakers, all of which make for thoughtful Christmas gifts.
Held indoors at the Mundaring Arena, you can beat the summer heat and browse the selection of products in the comfort of air conditioning. It’s a family-friendly event with live music, free face painting, and some food trucks to add to the atmosphere. But because it’s an enclosed space, the four-legged members of your crew will have to stay at home. The markets are open from 9:30am to 3:00pm on both days, with plenty of parking available at the venue.
14th December, Goolutatup Heathcote, Applecross
A handmade gift is a heartfelt gift, and the Heathcote Sunday Market is just the place you can find one. It’s run by the Perth Makers Market, which prides itself on the fact that its events are strictly ‘WA made only’ (with the exception of the stalls set aside for non-profits and their awareness and fundraising efforts). With more than 180 stalls to browse—selling everything from crocheted toys and hand-painted jewellery dishes to small-batch local tipples—you’ll have everyone on your Christmas shopping list ticked off in no time.
In addition to a great selection of products to browse, the December edition of the markets will also showcase local culinary talent. Tuck into a piping hot pizza or plump filled doughnut while you enjoy the free musical roster and play giant garden games with the family. Younger kids can also expend some energy on the nearby pirate ship playground.
The market is open from 9:30am to 3:30pm, with dedicated parking available for a small donation at the Heathcote Lower Lands. Alternatively, you can catch the train to the Canning Bridge train station and walk for 25 minutes to the market site.
