Important governance change commences at RAC

Company Limited by Guarantee

On 1 July 2026, RAC officially transitioned its legal structure from an Incorporated Association to a Company Limited by Guarantee. It is now governed under the Corporations Act. This move was approved by voting members at the RAC Annual General Meeting on 24 November 2025.

This is a common governing approach for membership organisations of RAC’s size and has also been adopted by other motoring clubs across Australia.

Importantly, RAC remains a member-based mutual organisation, and RAC members maintain the same voting rights.

This change provides fit-for-purpose, contemporary governance foundations that support the continued success of RAC for decades to come.

The RAC Council is now the RAC Board and currently comprises the following Directors:

  • John Driscoll – President and Chair
