Stay at premium self-contained accommodation in the relaxed coastal town of Denmark, WA—just a 4.5 hour drive from Perth along the Rainbow Coast. Tall towering karri trees, white sands, turquoise blue waters, striking granite rocks, protected coves and unique Western Australian wildlife all make up the awe-inspiring natural world you will find here. The town of Denmark curves along the river towards the Wilson Inlet (Nullaki), a diverse ecosystem teeming with fish, birds and other wildlife. Here you’ll find the emblem of Denmark, the blue wren, as well as the black swan, which gives the town its Noongar name, ‘Koorabup’. The black swan resides in the Denmark river (Bilya) that holds great significance to First Nations people, specifically the Noongar people who are the traditional owners with deep connections to Country (Boodja). Historically the area became an important place for fishing, gathering and cultural exchange between the Minang, Bibbulmun and Wadandi people.

Suggested 3-Night Self-Drive Itinerary
Day 1: Journey to Denmark
Begin your adventure with a scenic road trip, departing Perth in the morning for a relaxing drive south to Denmark. The journey takes approximately five hours, offering a beautiful glimpse of Western Australia's diverse landscapes along the way.
To break up the drive, we recommend a midway stop at the Williams Woolshed, located about two hours from Perth. This charming pitstop is ideal for stretching your legs and enjoying a fresh coffee or brunch. While there, take some time to browse the local boutiques showcasing wool products, homewares, and regional produce – a great introduction to the artisanal offerings of the south.
In the afternoon, continue your drive towards Denmark, aiming to arrive at your Heyscape cabin by around 4:00 PM. After check-in, take time to settle in and unwind. Soak up the peaceful surroundings—whether it’s national park bushland or sweeping ocean views—and let the tranquillity of the region ease you into your stay.
As evening falls, return to your cabin and enjoy a quiet night under the stars before drifting off in your cosy retreat.
Inclusions: 3 nights at Heyscape Accommodation (4pm Check-in)
Suggestions: Morning tea at Williams Wool Shed, Afternoon stroll around town
Day 2: Explore the Coast & Taste the Region
Head out for the morning to explore the incredible coastline. Make your way to William Bay National Park and enjoy a walk along the WOW Trail (Wilderness Ocean Walk). Take your time, stop for a swim if the weather’s nice, snap a few photos, or just relax and enjoy the amazing views along the way.
Around midday, we recommend stopping at The Dam—a local favourite known for its paddock-to-plate menu and house-made spirits. It’s a great spot for lunch in a stunning setting. In the afternoon, consider visiting Singlefile Wines, where you can enjoy a relaxed tasting among the vines and sample some of the region’s standout wines.
After a day of exploring, head back to your cabin for a quiet and restful evening surrounded by nature.
Suggestions: Swim at Greens Pool, The Dam for a lunch, Singlefile Wines for a wine tasting
Day 3: Marron Catch & Cook Experience
Start your day slow and easy. Wake up to the sounds of nature and enjoy a peaceful morning at your own pace. Take a short walk along a nearby trail, breathe in the fresh air, or simply stay cosy at your cabin with a leisurely breakfast and a view—no rush.
By midday, head off for a special local experience: your Marron Catch & Cook, starting at 12:00 PM. This hands-on activity lets you learn about the prized freshwater marron, catch your own, and then enjoy a delicious lunch prepared with the day’s catch. It’s a fun and interactive way to connect with local food and culture.
In the afternoon, consider treating yourself to a relaxing spa experience at one of the nearby wellness centres. Whether it’s a massage, facial, or other treatment, it’s the perfect way to slow down and recharge.
That evening, we recommend dinner at Pepper & Salt, one of the region’s most loved restaurants. With its focus on seasonal and local produce, paired with sweeping vineyard views, it’s a perfect spot to round off your day.
Inclusions: Marron Catch & Cook
Suggestions: Stop past Tea House books to enjoy a morning coffee, Spa treatment at Chimes, Dinner at Pepper & Salt
Day 4: Sweet Treats & Return to Perth
Enjoy a slow morning at your cabin as you pack up and get ready to check out. Soak in the last of the views, take one final walk around the property, or savour a quiet breakfast before hitting the road.
Before you leave town, make a quick stop at the Denmark Chocolate Company – a local favourite for handmade chocolates, truffles, and gifts. It’s a great place to pick up a few treats for the road or something special to take home.
From there, begin your drive back to Perth. We suggest leaving Denmark around 12:00 PM, which should see you arriving in the city by early evening. Take your time along the way, stop for a coffee or a quick break when needed, and reflect on a few days well spent in nature, good food, and total relaxation.
