This 21-night self-drive package combines the best of both islands! You will visit the beautiful Bay of Islands, geothermal Rotorua and the wine region of Hawke’s Bay in the North. Exploring the South, you will see the whale-watching capital of Kaikoura, Mt Cook - New Zealand’s highest mountain as well as the spectacular southern fiords of Milford Sound.
Day 1: Arrive Auckland
Upon arrival into Auckland Airport, collect your rental vehicle and make your way to your centrally-located accommodation.
Day 2: Auckland to Bay of Islands
Day 3: Bay of Islands
Cruise the beautiful Bay of Islands and weather permitting, cruise through the iconic Hole in the Rock.
Day 4: Bay of Islands to Auckland
Day 5: Auckland to Rotorua via Hobbiton
En route to Rotorua, stop in the heart of the mighty Waikato region where you can explore the lush pastures of the Shire with a guided walking tour of Hobbiton, as featured in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
