Supporting St John WA volunteers across regional and remote Western Australia
Our partnership
St John is the primary provider of high-quality ambulance and first aid services for our community.
There are 4,500 regional volunteers that are the backbone of emergency response across WA and deliver life-saving care in communities often far from hospitals and specialist services.
RAC and St John have worked alongside each other for more than a decade, united by a shared goal of keeping Western Australian’s safe.
Together, we have engaged the community through services like RAC Rescue helicopters* and initiatives such as BStreetSmart, reaching people of all ages with road safety awareness and education.
This new partnership strengthens RAC’s commitment to supporting St John in delivering this lifesaving care across our state, particularly in remote and regional communities.
Supporting regional volunteers
In remote and regional WA, volunteers make up a large part of emergency response teams. They often travel long distances, work with limited resources, and rely on fundraising to support local needs. They also play a critical role in responding to road crashes and medical emergencies.
Our partnership with St John recognises this vital role and helps strengthen the capabilities of regional volunteers through dedicated upskilling programs and access to funding.

Regional volunteer training
We’re funding a series of practical training workshops, delivered in 6 regional towns across the state, bringing greater access to upskilling opportunities for these volunteers who may otherwise not have had the opportunity to learn.
These sessions focus on road trauma response and emergency readiness. They help volunteers build skills and confidence. Volunteers can then be better prepared for real-world scenarios they’re likely to face in their local area.
Community Impact Fund
We’re also a founding contributor to the St John WA’s Community Impact Fund, which provides small grants to St John volunteer sub-centres. These grants help volunteers purchase equipment, upgrade facilities and meet immediate local needs. This helps reduce their reliance on community fundraising.
Delivering real impact across WA
We are proud to partner with St John to support regional volunteers and help build stronger communities across WA.
*The RAC Rescue helicopters are funded by the State Government, managed by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, and sponsored by RAC.
