RAC Electric Highway®

When we launched the Electric Highway in 2015, it was the first of its kind in Australia. Since then, we’ve provided over 16 vehicle charging locations between Monkey Mia and Esperance. We’re proud that the project encouraged growth in ownership of low emission vehicles and investment in the infrastructure for EVs.

Supporting the shift to electric

RAC has helped set the stage for the growth of EVs in Western Australia. We’re still engaged in policymaking, and we’ll continue to advocate in this space. We’d like governments to prioritise charging infrastructure and other measures that will support the move towards low-emission vehicles.

Why we did it

For more than 120 years, RAC has been committed to improving how people move around WA.

The network of EV charging stations in the Southwest helped motorists stay connected. The program also encouraged more people to buy EVs and generated government investment in EV infrastructure.

The program contributed to our broader goal of reducing harmful emissions from cars across the state. It’s all part of our commitment to a safer, more sustainable and better-connected future for all Western Australians
