The RAC Electric Highway® has been expanded north, with an electric vehicle charger installed at RAC Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort to allow guests to plug-in and recharge their EV during their stay.

The 22kW AC charging station is publicly accessible so can also be used by other EV drivers during business hours.

RAC Group Executive Tourism Tony Pickworth said we're thrilled to further expand the RAC Electric Highway into regional WA by installing our first charging station north of Perth.

“The new 22kW chargers at RAC Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort will allow guests and other EV drivers to re-charge while exploring and enjoying their stay," Mr Pickworth said.

“This was a priority for us as we are seeing an increasing number of EV drivers travelling to Monkey Mia with few options to recharge.

“Range anxiety remains a barrier to the uptake of electric vehicles in WA, particularly north of Perth where EV chargers can be hundreds of kilometres apart.

“We hope opening up more of our great State to EVs will help support the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable transport system in WA.”

The new charger in Monkey Mia joins three other RAC Parks and Resorts properties which also have EV charging stations — Karri Valley, Busselton and Esperance.
