RAC General Manager Motoring Mark Weller said in 2015, RAC Patrols attended breakdowns in Canning Vale more than anywhere else in Perth.
“Last year, our Patrols rescued 5,499 people in Canning Vale and almost half of them were battery issues and battery sales,” Mr Weller said.
“According to our recent Patrol Survey, our Patrols believe almost 50 percent of these jobs could have been avoided if their vehicle was serviced regularly and 78 percent of motorists don’t have a basic understanding of their vehicle’s mechanics and operations.”
Other suburbs with the most breakdowns included Perth, Morley, Joondalup, Dianella, Balcatta, South Perth, Como, Fremantle and Thornlie.
The peak time of day for breakdowns was between 9 – 10 am which suggests many members breakdown during school drop-offs. In Perth, the peak time is between 5 – 6 pm when everyone is in a rush to get home from the CBD.
“It can be a stressful time for our members because they often have other appointments they have to break,” Mr Weller added.
“It’s a timely reminder to make sure your battery is valid and charged, and ensure you have Roadside Assistance in case of an emergency.”
