RAC members have lifted the lid on the coolest and quirkiest nicknames for their wheels.
More than 600 motorists participated in the 2021 Car Quiz, and 28 per cent admitted they have a special name for their cars.
For some it’s a matter of colour-coordination, with Scarlet, Red and Blue featuring prominently – while for others it’s all about wordplay, with Clancy the Corolla and Holly Hyundai among the nominations.
After members revealed their motor monikers, we asked them to vote for their favourite – and there was a clear winner:
- The Beast (30%)
- Godfrey (11%)
- Frog (9%)
- Ms Scarlet (9%)
- Sparky (9%)
- Bluebird (7%)
White remains the favoured colour for cars in WA, while grey is the most popular colour for hybrids – followed by white and silver.
When it comes to keeping their vehicles spick-and-span, just 13 per cent of drivers said they washed their cars every week – while 29 per cent admitted they only got the sponge and bucket out every six months.
15 per cent of respondents had a personalised number plate.
The survey also revealed 80 per cent of drivers feel their car is their safe haven, and 70 per cent feel personally connected or attached to their vehicle.
