RAC welcomes significant progress towards establishing Infrastructure WA, a new statutory body responsible for providing long-term direction for the State’s infrastructure needs.

RAC Group CEO Terry Agnew said Infrastructure WA (IWA) is an opportunity to improve transparency and consultation within project planning and help ensure the coordinated delivery of infrastructure to meet the future needs of the State.

“Infrastructure WA will play a crucial role in ensuring decision-making is evidence-based and reflects a long-term view of our State’s needs,” Mr Agnew said.

“Transparency, independence and a consultative framework are three key areas we highlighted in our submission on the proposed IWA model.”

IWA will be tasked with developing a 20-year infrastructure strategy designed to maximise the social and economic outcomes for our State.

“Enhanced planning, assessment and prioritisation of projects will ensure the best outcomes for WA, in both metropolitan and regional areas,” Mr Agnew said.

“We welcome this important step by the State Government in the establishment of Infrastructure WA, which was a key election commitment, delivering on an RAC priority.”
