What is ADAS and why it matters
ADAS stands for advanced driver assistance systems. Most modern vehicles are equipped with ADAS technologies, which automate certain driving tasks to reduce human error.
When ADAS is working correctly, it acts as a second set of eyes, protecting what matters most: the safety of you, your loved ones and everyone sharing the road. But if they’re not calibrated, these systems can malfunction when you need them most.

ADAS calibration keeps you safe on the road by servicing your vehicle’s advanced driving systems, which may include:
Adaptive cruise control
Adjusts your speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my car has ADAS?
Most modern vehicles have ADAS, including systems like lane departure warning, blind spot detection and park assist. If your car has any of these technologies, it likely means that your car has ADAS.
You can also check your vehicle for additional signs. For example, you might notice small sensors or cameras on the grille, bumpers or side mirrors. These are often used to power ADAS features.

What happens if ADAS is not calibrated?
Improper ADAS calibration can cause these systems to malfunction or fail altogether. Without these safety technologies, you may be at a higher risk of dangerous incidents on the road, such as unsafe lane changes or collisions.
How often should ADAS be calibrated?
The frequency of ADAS calibration depends on your vehicle and driving habits.
As a general rule, you should schedule ADAS calibration if something isn’t working as it should. For example, your automated emergency braking could be faulty, or you may notice false alerts on your dashboard. If you do, book in as soon as possible.
You should also consider ADAS calibration anytime your vehicle undergoes a change or repair that could disrupt the cameras, sensors or radars. These scenarios could include:
- Wheel alignment
- Windscreen replacement
- Suspension or steering repairs
- Tyre size changes
- Collision damage or repairs

Can a calibration be booked on the same day and how long does it take?
Depending on availability, the calibration may be completed on the same day or scheduled for a future date. The work is expected to take approximately two hours, depending on the vehicle and the calibration requirements.
