This is a thorough test that will give you a comprehensive health report on the traction battery of your electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle. You'll get diagnostics detailing the battery's condition, including its state of health and remaining range.
An EV battery health check gives you detailed insights into the condition of your traction battery – something not included in a standard vehicle inspection. A vehicle inspection looks at the overall condition of the car, including the 12V battery and charging system, but not the traction battery. For the most comprehensive insights into the total condition of an EV, it’s recommended to bundle a battery health check with a vehicle inspection.
The battery is a critical part of your vehicle. If you're buying a used EV, a battery health check can give you data on the state of health of the traction battery to confirm whether the car is a good buy. If you're selling, it can reassure buyers about the quality of your car. Or you might get a battery check to help you plan for future needs or for peace of mind, so you know where you stand.
An EV battery health check looks at how your battery is performing and how much life it has left. It checks things like your battery’s state of health, usable capacity, estimated range remaining and battery voltage. For some vehicles, the test can also provide a comparison to vehicles of similar age and mileage, maximum and minimum cell voltages, and maximum cell voltage difference.
It covers a wide range of popular EV models and plug-in-hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models, including most major brands such as Tesla, BYD, MG, Mitsubishi, Nissan, BMW, Hyundai, Kia, and Volkswagen. The health check is designed to work with many modern EVs available in Australia, though this also depends on the model and battery system. You can always check with us to make sure your EV is covered.
The test is compatible with a range of plug-in hybrid vehicles but not with standard hybrid vehicles.
This depends on the work being done. For general servicing, a standard automotive qualification is enough, but work on high voltage systems requires additional EV-specific training. All our technicians are fully qualified, trained in EV safety, and keep their skills up to date.
